Boro Park: Additional Information And New Traffic And Street Closure Update on 13th Avenue At Scene Of Building Explosion


IMG_4910Community Board 12 is happy to announce that the work on 13th Avenue is going better than expected, therefore there are some new developments regarding the traffic and street closure situation.

On 13th Avenue between 42nd and 43rd Street, on the opposite side of the explosion, all pedestrian traffic is currently being allowed, without a police escort.

Tomorrow, the street on the same side of the explosion will be opened up, from 4214 till the end of the block, for business owners, residents and shoppers only. From 4202 to 4212 will remain closed for now and no pedestrians are allowed.

One lane will be opened up tomorrow for vehicles on 13th Avenue between 42nd and 43rd Street. There is no parking permitted on the entire street. The driving restrictions from 39th Street and up will be lifted.

All business owners and residents that are affected and need information or assistance are urged to visit the Resident Support Center that is located at the Borough Park branch of the Brooklyn Public Library at 1265 43rd Street on the 2nd Floor. Resident support will be there till 6:00 pm and SBS (Small Business Services) is available to help business owners in need of assistance.

Some additional relief efforts are expected to be announced shortly.
