Join Greenfield Tonight on a Conference Call Where You Can Propose $1 Million in Neighborhood Improvements

gfnCouncilman David G. Greenfield is kicking off another year of participatory budgeting this week by hosting an interactive conference call tonight, Wednesday, September 21 at 6 p.m.

Participatory budgeting is a unique democratic process in which New Yorkers get a direct say in how their tax dollars are spent. Greenfield has secured $1 million to be allocated to projects selected by the residents of his district.

This is the fifth year in which Greenfield has secured funds for the Participatory Budgeting process. Last year’s winning projects included district-wide street resurfacing, new ambulances for Hatzolah, and a new OHEL community center. Over 2,000 people participated in last year’s PB process, and even more are expected to take part this year.

“I’m happy to be able to give the residents of my district a direct say in how their tax dollars are spent,” Greenfield said. “No one knows how to improve a community better than the people who live there.”

Greenfield is encouraging anyone with ideas about how their community can be improved to join him on an interactive conference call about the Participatory Budgeting process this Wednesday at 6 p.m. The dial-in information for the call is as follows:

Date: Wednesday, September 21
Time: 6:00 p.m.
Phone Number: 1-800-719-7514
Access Code: 836111

Anyone with questions about the PB process, or ideas for projects to improve the community, is encouraged to join the call on Wednesday or to call Greenfield’s office at any time at (718) 853-2704.
