Newt Gingrich: I Won’t Win Iowa

This is quite a turn from declaring a few weeks ago that he would be the nominee, per The AP:

Newt Gingrich says he doesn’t expect to win Tuesday’s Iowa caucuses after being battered by millions of dollars in negative ads.

Gingrich told reporters Monday that the “volume of negativity” by his rivals and their allies had done its damage. He then went on to say: “I don’t think I’m going to win.”

But Gingrich said he would do well enough to continue on to the coming contests in New Hampshire and South Carolina. And he said it was “a victory that I’m still standing.”

The former House speaker spoke after a campaign event with farmers in Independence, Iowa.

  1. The media is suppressing his great speeches and Q&A’s on the campaign trail in Iowa the last week. He is still the most knowledgable and intelligent, and articulates clear solutions more than any other. It would be a pity if Romney’s dirty campaign puts Gingrich out of the competition.

  2. How is this “quite a turn”? When did he ever predict he would win Iowa? And how often does the winner in Iowa end up winning the nomination? Very rarely.

  3. More wisdom from Newt the check kiter. I think everyone knows he won’t win. That’s why the MSM is touting him.
