On this 5 day getaway we will tour some of Europes most ancient Jewish communities dating back to over 2,000 years and the Spanish Inquistion. In Salonika – which was once known as the “Jerusalem of the Balkans” we will visit many of its historical sites and learn about how the Jews played an integral role for hundreds of years in this beautiful port city. As we journey to several ancient Jewish communties outside of Salonika and throughout Macedonia, including Ioannina, Veroia, Trikala and Larissa, Rabbi Baron will captivate us with insights about the interesting history, unique customs and colorful Jewish life of the Romaniote and Sephardic communities that are part of Greece’s historical landscape.
