Rockland County: Jewish Car Service Driver & Passenger Hospitalized After Drunk Diver Slams Into Them


At approximately 4:00AM on Monday morning, Ramapo Police responded to a motor vehicle accident on Route 17, just south of Seven Lakes Drive in the Village of Sloatsburg.

The investigation revealed that a tow truck was proceeding southbound on Route 17 when it crossed the double yellow and collided with a Chevy Suburban (car service) that was proceeding northbound.

The Chevy Suburban operator, a 44 year old Union City NJ man and the passenger, a 42 year old pregnant Monroe NY woman, were transported to Good Samaritan Hospital by Sloatsburg Volunteer Ambulance Corp, with non-life threatening injuries. Rockland Paramedic Services assisted.

The tow truck operator, a 34 year old Tuxedo NY man was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated DWI, assault in the 2nd degree (2 counts), reckless endangerment in the 2nd degree, and several vehicle & traffic tickets.

He was reportedly texting at the time of this accident.

He was arraigned in the Town of Ramapo Justice Court and was remanded to the Rockland County Jail. Bail was set at $2,500.00.
