VIDEO: MK Maklev Wants To Know Why Consumer Protection Law Isn’t Enforced

(VIDEO IN EXTENDED ARTICLE)

Since 2016, there have been over 1,000 registered violations of consumer protection laws.

In the wake of these violations, more than 600 investigation files have been opened, and more are expected to be opened soon, according to a question submitted by MK Uri Maklev to the Minister of Economy on the subject. “The lack of enforcement leads the businesses to behave in this disgraceful manner”.

“The lack of enforcement on this issue leads businesses to behave in this manner. We encounter a store that allows themselves to declare that they do not accept returns, and this is contrary to regulations. If there is no tight supervision, we will not see the solution”, stated Maklev.

The Minister of Economy agreed with MK Maklev and said that recently he has begun to act as a complaints line for consumers and will even expand his activities throughout the week. We will act to enforce this important issue.
