Maklev: Opening Kevarim Of The Yemenite Children Under Rabbinic Supervision Only

MK Uri Maklev, who serves as a member of the committee probing what occurred to the Yemenite children, is demanding the opening of the kevarim with supervision. Members of the committee are trying to have the graves opened without halachic supervision, a move which Maklev opposes vehemently, concerned with kovod hameis. He feels every kever may only be opened in the presence of a representative of the Chief Rabbinate of Israel.

He explains he is totally supportive of probing the truth, citing he is pushing a bill to create a genetic database that would eventually probe the family connection (ייחוס) to each and every person. However, he insists there cannot be any compromise pertaining to kovod hameis.
