Australia Reopens 1982 Consulate Bombing Case

Australia announced it is reopening an old case, the 1982 bombing against the Israeli Consulate in Sidney, ABC Australia reported. That attack occurred on December 23, 1982, with one bombing detonating in the William Street structure and a second later in the day at the KaKoach Club in Bondi.

According to officials in the New South Wales Police, they are hopeful the new forensics and technology that exists today, 30 years after the bombing will assist in cracking the case which remains unsolved.

“We are following a number of investigative leads in relation to advances in technology and also in relation to our modern-day techniques,” Assistant Commissioner Peter Dein, who heads the Counter Terrorism Unit, said.
