Pirate Radio Operator Loses Civil Suit


The Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court ordered Yisrael Pundak to pay 262,000 NIS in damages in the civil suit filed by the state against him for operating the pirate radio station Kol HaMizrach.

The civil suit is in addition to Yisrael having served 18 months in prison for operating the

illegal radio station, Israel Radio reported.

  1. In a country whose traditions are clearly based on socialism and the idea of state control, any truely independent media need to be controlled. In a country, such as the United States, anyone can put together the money, get a license, and broadcast.
