One of the most seriously wounded IDF soldiers during Operation Protective Edge, Ohad Ben-Yishai, remains hospitalized at Soroka Medical Center in Beersheva. B’chasdei Hashem the young soldier on Shabbos opened his eyes, a most encouraging sign according to doctors. The soldier was one of many wounded in battles in Shajaia in Gaza, sustaining a serious shrapnel injury to his head.

He underwent life-saving neurosurgery, and he was then placed in a medically induced coma to permit his body to heal.

Two weeks after the surgery doctors brought him out of the coma and B”H he opened his eyes and is moving his eyes from side to side. He still has a long way to go but doctors are encouraged.
