New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio says he got “very late notice” that Gov. Andrew Cuomo was shutting the subways down ahead of a feared blizzard.
But he says it was “a run-and-gun situation.”
De Blasio appeared on NBC’s “Today” show Wednesday.
He defended his administration’s decision to prepare for the storm Monday by closing roads.
He said meteorologists were forecasting more than 2 feet of snow in the city and “you can’t put a price on safety.”
De Blasio reiterated that he learned of Cuomo’s decision to shut the subways just shortly before Cuomo announced it to the public.
He joked, “Wasn’t that nice?”
But he added, “Where we all agreed was safety first.”
Most of New York City got less than a foot of snow.

The point really becomes as follows. If the mayor can appreciate the capacity of each trains opportunity to reach its destination is a real pachad. For the alleged reasons as follows. When the initiation of the railroad system was introduced to mankind, it opened up new vistas of opportunities. Let’s all take advantage of this opportunity and realize the essence of our potential and capacity.
He won the election- why doesn’t he just do his job? Bloomberg did that and got re-elected a bunch or times.
And what was the reason for shutting service of trains that run completely underground?
Will politicians ever take responsibility for decisions that don’t work out? That is a bigger attribute than having the dice roll in their favor.
Would everyone please stop second-guessing every decision by politicians we do not like. Consider that as far as we know, the decisions were based on the best available information, were made for the protection and benefit of the public, and no bribes or kickbacks were paid as a result of the decisions to close the roads and rails. Maybe when Sheldon Silver’s case is over, he will affiliate with a weather-consulting firm and get fees for predicting the weather.
Yes, the experts were wrong by 30 miles, i.e., the storm center was 30 miles further east than expected, thereby sparing the 5 boroughs of the brunt of the storm. If you think you can do better, on a consistent basis, please step up to the plate.
