Maklev Calls for Improved Crosswalks Throughout Israel

kikarMK (Yahadut Hatorah) Uri Maklev is calling on relevant officials to improve the nation’s crosswalks, pointing out there has been a 33% increase struck pedestrians in the past year as compared to the previous year.

Maklev is calling on Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz to address the unacceptable statistic, adding too many of the pedestrians are actually struck in authorized crosswalks.

Katz explains the budgeting for crosswalks is included in the funding given to local governments by the ministry and the crosswalks must be addressed on the local level. He added “If the statistics are indeed accurate, then Israel Police’s traffic enforcement unit, local government and the National Road Safety Authority are studying the numbers and arriving at the appropriate conclusions”.

Maklev is calling on the ministry to increase budgeting for improving crosswalks around Israel.
