Lakewood: LCSW Asks For Vigilance Following Attempted Child-Luring Incident

lcswnAs the summer approaches, the Lakewood Civilian Safety Watch is warning parents to be more vigilant following another attempted luring incident today. At approximately 8:30 PM, LCSW received a call about an incident that occurred hours earlier.

The parent stated that at around 4:30 PM, an approximately 10-year-old boy was walking in the area of Somerset Avenue and Kennedy Boulevard when a vehicle pulled alongside the child and motioned to him to come to his vehicle, an LCSW coordinator tells TLS.

The child immediately ran off.

It’s unknown if the incident was only reported to the parents several hours later, or if it was just the report to LCSW that was delayed.

Whatever the case, says LCSW, incidents such as these should immediately be reported.

“With the summer months approaching, parents need to keep an extra eye on their children,” says LCSW. “And if something like this happens, please report it to police and LCSW immediately.”

Continues LCSW, “parents are encouraged to teach their children to stay away from strangers, and if involved in an incident like this, to try and get as much information about the vehicle as possible – such as the color, make and model.”
