Too Many Attacks Prompts Jerusalem Councilman King to Start a Civilian Patrol


parAccording to Jerusalem Councilman Aryeh King, the situation in the Maale Zeitim (Ras el-Amud) community of the capital has become intolerable, citing after the Sunday night (eve of 5 Tammuz) firebomb attacks that there have been no less than 52 attacks in the past two years. This most recent attack was against a career army officer’s family. He cites the irony of the situation, that while the officer, a major, is protecting Am Yisrael, his family is in perilous danger at home and police “have abandoned us”.

King explains that on Sunday evening terrorists targeted a home with four firebombs and dozens of rocks. B’chasdei Hashem there were no fatalities or injuries. He feels Israel Police are helpless and are not going to provide the solution, as beginning on Monday, 5 Tammuz at 21:00, he and others will begin an area security patrol. He explains a patrol will be stationed on Panorama Street, adding one can enter Waze searching for “Panorama Hotel” on “Panorama Street” on Har HaZeisim opposite the old hotel and the Sephardi burial area of Har HaZeisim known as “Tzur”. The participants in the patrol will meet on the south side of Tzur.

King adds that police appear capable of providing protection and accommodating over 100,000 Muslim worshipers heading to Har Habayis for Friday Ramadan services while the Jewish residents of the capital are forced to fend for themselves. He calls on Jerusalemites to stand up and begin defending themselves.
