NY Assembly Requiring Proof For Albany Travel Expenses

albanyThe leader of New York’s Assembly has further revised the travel reimbursement policy for his chamber’s 150 members with new restrictions when the Legislature isn’t in session.

Speaker Carl Heastie last month issued guidance for members to record being in Albany during the session, through committee votes, presence in the Assembly chamber, using a swipe card machine or with toll records or dated hotel and restaurant receipts.

The new rules apply to transportation outside the session. Those costs are limited to 30 trips and after that require approval.

The 2015 legislative session ended June 23.

The rules continue federal reimbursement rates of $172 per diem for lodging, meals, and incidentals. The full day per diem is limited to 20 out of session.

Per diems are $61 for a partial day.
