71-Year-Old Stabbing Victim Still In Critical Condition At Laniado Hospital In Netanya

ntLaniado Hospital reports that the victim of Monday’s brutal stabbing in Netanya, Shmuel Toledano, is in critical but stable condition at the hospital. The 71-year-old French immigrant was stabbed from behind by a Palestinian and was immediately rushed to Laniado Hospital in critical condition. He underwent surgery on Monday night and is currently sedated and breathing with the help of a ventilator.

Laniado’s Emergency and Trauma Unit responded quickly and effectively, ensuring that the victim was in the best medical hands possible. Dr. Ofer Arbel, Laniado’s Head of Emergency, warned that it is best not to remove the knife of a stabbing victim at the scene and rather wait until the victim reaches the hospital. “The people who tried to help the stabbing victim by removing the knife caused more damage, further endangering his life.”

The staff at Laniado, a world-class hospital servicing Netanya’s 350,000 residents, had a team of their top doctors ready, as part of the Disaster Response Unit, when the stabbing victim arrived and are doing all they can to ensure his speedy recovery. Preparedness is a key objective of Laniado, with the hospital recently building a protected division in which medical activities can continue uninterrupted in emergency situations. Plans for the construction of additional protected divisions are also underway and Laniado is currently building an underground Dialysis unit to assure the safety of patients during emergency situations.

Founded 40 years ago by the legendary Rabbi Yekusiel Yehuda Halberstam zt”l, Laniado is one of Israel’s leading medical institutions. It includes a nursing school and cutting edge medical research, including bio genetics. For more information please go to www.laniadohospital.org.
