VIDEO: Off-Duty Border Policemen Caught On Video Beating An Arab Male Without Mercy In Tel Aviv

a[VIDEO IN EXTENDED ARTICLE]

While the Justice Ministry police investigations unit probes the beating of an unarmed chareidi man in Beit Shemesh earlier in the month,  off-duty border policeman in civilian clothing are seen on video beating an Arab male in Tel Aviv.

According to witnesses, the man in central Tel Aviv was asked to identify himself on Ibn Gavriel Street near Tel Aviv City Hall. The Israeli Arab worker who went out to throw away trash failed to comply, asking the man dressed in shorts what authority he has to request that he identify himself. Witnesses report the off-duty officer then began the physical assault, without warning.

According to statements posted to Facebook, the policemen used vulgarity while beating the unarmed man, who was eventually pushed into a police van and taken away.

Many who say what occurred told the press there is no doubt he was beaten simply because he is an Arab.

In the police statement it is reported one of the policemen claims the man bit him, justifying force to arrest him. The policemen the statement adds were treated for bruises and bites in Ichilov Hospital. MK (Arab Bloc) Dov Hanin filed an urgent appeal with Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan demanding a probe.

The Arab worker, employed in a nearby supermarket, was remanded to house arrest by a magistrate court on Monday morning. The Justice Minister police investigations unit is probing the incident.

  2. There is an inherent problem to off-duty police officers acting like everyone knows they’re police officers.

And thug police is what you get in a British-system country like Israel. Police can get away with anything.

  3. #4 – your comment is just plain stupid and childish!

With that said, unfortunately, this video is no where nearly as clear as the video of the charedi being beaten. (My guess is, however, that this one made main stream media while the charedi one did not).

If the cop in this case also provoked a situation he too should be fired.

  4. @DikDukDuck If anything the US police system invites abuse of power far more than The British system.

The IPCC is a single body overseeing complaints against the police forces across the entire UK and is independent rather than the internal enquiries conducted by local US police forces.

  5. Some say that Rav flogged people who talked back to police officers (Kiddushin 12b). As for videos, they do not necessarily tell the whole story. It all depends on when bystander started to film. The best system is the body camera.

  6. #10. Not true . Try looking in your own back yard . Frum do not have derech erez also. BTW I would attribute it Yakov vs Esav.
