Many Haifa Residents Are Compelled To Go Back To Basics

1While a frum home generally does not have internet, cable television and other devices, most homes in the Western world do and Haifa is no exception.

Residents are complaining that they feel like they are back in the stone ages as there is no internet in many homes hit by fires, leaving them without Facebook, without email, without WhatsApp and without all the other services that rely on internet connectivity.

Families tell Reshet Bet Radio they call the local 106 emergency number, Bezeq, Hot, and other internet and phone service providers and in most cases, no one is answering.

A senior Bezeq official told Reshet Bet he personally is out in the streets in this very area and the fact is, some areas have suffered heavy damage to infrastructure and restoration of service may take some time.

Parents explain “the children do not know what to do with themselves – no internet and no television”. Some might opine this is a hint that possibly, something is wrong with the lifestyle while others are simply waiting impatiently for basic services to be restored following the disastrous fires.

Haifa residents report the Haifa Municipality has responded as it should as did Israel Electric Company, explaining water and electric are operational in most areas.
