Police Detain Youths: Keep Away From Amona

amon1With Amona residents announcing their decision, to reject the government offer, the deadline for the evacuation of the community draws near, 25 December, in line with the High Court ruling, police are beginning to prevent supporters from reaching the community. The activists wish to be a part of the resistance to save Amona.

Honenu is already involved as attorney Nati Rom has already become involved in a case in which police on Wednesday night prevented youths from making their way to Amona, detaining them and bringing them to the Ariel police station. They were eventually released following Honenu’s involvement. Rom questions how police decided to prevent youths from reaching Amona for there is no legal designation in place preventing anyone from coming as of Thursday afternoon.

It is expected that as the expulsion draws near additional youths will be making their way to Amona. Based on similar operations in the past, at some point the IDF is likely to declare the area a ‘closed military zone’ to prevent other from coming.
