Yesh Din Application Halts Preparing New Venue For Amona

1A temporary injunction has been issued by the High Court of Justice preventing any work to prepare the new venue for Yishuv Amona, which is to be evacuated from its present location as per a High Court order by 8 February 2017. The injunction is the court’s response to a petition filed by the Yesh Din organization which seeks to have the new arrangement canceled.

Ironically, earlier this week, Amona residents sent a letter to government officials declaring the deal “null and void” due to state inaction. They explain nothing is being done to prepare the new community in time to meet the court-imposed deadline.

Yesh Din explained to the court that by moving Amona to nearby unclaimed land, the state is “correcting one injustice by perpetrating another” and this is not acceptable.

At present, the deadline nears, no work is ongoing to prepare a new venue for the community while Amona’s approximately 40 families are calling on supporters to join them to assist in resisting eviction.
