Flooding in the Ma’aras HaMachpela

The rainfall that began on shabbos was badly needed and much appreciated, with Kinneret officials reporting on Tuesday morning 28 Cheshvan 5773 the level has increased 3 centimeters.

The rainfall brought new records to many areas, and for many cities and municipalities, they surpassed average rainfall for the month according to meteorologists.

The sporadic very heavy showers continued on Monday as well, leading to flooding in areas of the Ma’aras HaMachpela during the early afternoon hours. The water was significant enough that mispallalim were not permitted to enter the site.

Community officials were angered, accusing the government of failing to understand the significance of the site which leads to a failure to maintain the site as it demands.
