PHOTOS: Jerusalem Chief Rabbi Turns To Police Following Repeated Eruv Vandalism

Jerusalem Chief Ashkenazi Rabbi HaGaon HaRav Aryeh Stern recently turned to Jerusalem police for assistance following repeated vandalism to the city’s eruv.

The rav spoke with police officials and was instructed to follow up with a letter to make the complaint official.

The rav points out that persons vandalized the eruv on several Shabbosim in a row, and this results in a serious blow to Shomrei Shabbos residents of the city.

R”L, many people were mechalel Shabbos without knowing it, as the eruv was cut in the Ein Kerem and Ramat HaSharet neighborhoods. The damage was detected by the religious council’s head of the city’s eruv, Rabbi Katzenelbogen, who points out the seriousness of such attacks, on Shabbos, resulting in chilul Shabbos of many.

Police are investigating.

  1. The anti religious vandals left stickers on the erev poles signed “Chilonim of Ramat HaSharet” and “Kofim go home”
    These neighborhoods are Ramat HaSharet and Ein Kerem on the borders of Bayit Vegan and Kiryat Yovel.
