Authorities Ready For The Tens Of Thousands Expected To Arrive At The Kosel And Kever David

Police and other agencies are ready for the Shabbos/Shavuos weekend, during which tens of thousands of mispallalim are expected to make their way to the Kosel and Kever David.

Persons heading to and from the Kosel and Old City will not be permitted to use Shar Shechem and/or HaGuy Street in the so-called Muslim Quarter due to Ramadan. Those routes will be opened to Jews from 12:30AM Sunday morning (Motzei Shabbos).

Police will be out in large numbers over the Yomtov weekend, inside the Old City and along routes leading to the Kosel, as well as around the complex of Kever David.

Mechitzos will be in place on the upper Kosel areas too, to accommodate the large number of mispallalim usually attending Shachris on Shavuos, the neitz and later minyanim too.

It is reported that due to donations received in recent years, there is no shortage of Sifrei Torah and those seeking a Torah for a minyan should find there is no problem this year. No one will be permitted to bring a Sefer Torah into the Kosel complex.

In cooperation with Eshel Yerushalayim and Kollel Chabad, thousands of drinks and mezonos will be on hand to distribute to persons after davening before they head back home.
