Rabbonim Of The Shas Torah Council Turn To Deri To Halt Egalitarian Arrangement At The Kosel


kotelThe matter of the egalitarian prayer area near the Kosel is being probed by the High Court of Justice, which is expected to announced its verdict in response to a number of petitions. The chareidi parties in Knesset have been working hard to pressure Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to scrap the decision to implement the controversial plan.

Rabbonim Shlita on the Shas party Moetzas Gedolei Yisrael along with a number of prominent Sephardi rabbonim sent a letter to Shas party leader Minister Aryeh Deri, calling upon him to submit a bill to implement a plan for the Kosel Plaza in line with the Chief Rabbinate of Israel.

The rabbonim use the letter to explain to Deri that they remain firmly behind him and his success will have an impact on the future of Klall Yisrael as a whole.

Signing the letter were: HaGaon HaRav Shimon Ba’adani Shlita, HaGaon HaRav Reuven Elbaz Shlita, HaGaon HaRav Shlomo Ben Shimon Shlita, HaGaon HaRav Shlomo Machpud Shlita, HaGaon HaRav Machlouf Fachima, HaGaon HaRav Daniel Zar, HaGaon HaRav Yitzchak Cohen, HaGaon HaRav Nissim Harari, and HaGaon Yinon Yona.
