NYC: Despite Tough Albany Deal, De Blasio Declines To Hit Back

deblasio0343535Mayor Bill de Blasio is declining to criticize what many perceive as a bad deal for New York City in the state Legislature.

De Blasio said Wednesday that final negotiations are ongoing and that he will reserve judgment until the legislation is adopted.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo and the heads of the New York state Senate and Assembly announced the framework of a legislative deal on Tuesday.

The deal did not honor de Blasio’s hopes for much tougher rent regulations or a total overhaul of an affordable housing tax credit.

It also only extended mayoral control of the city school system by one year. De Blasio had wanted it to become permanent.

Cuomo has frequently thwarted de Blasio’s agenda and the mayor has rarely attacked back.
