Every year, on 21 Elul, Maran Posek HaDor HaGaon HaRav Yosef Sholom Elyashiv Shlita marked a special day, Yom Hatzolah, the day he underwent a complicated surgical procedure eight years ago, a procedure that was performed by Dr. Daniel Clair in Elul 5763. Since that incident, talmidim have marked the day with song and gratitude to HaKadosh Baruch Hu for the Ravs recovery. The first year, the event was a modest one, in the caravan used by the Rav for his shiurim. In more recent years, the event has attracted more participants, in the thousands, leading to a significantly different agenda.
This year however, the event will most likely not be held in the beis medrash, but in a closed forum since the Rav is feeling weak and just last erev Shabbos, the Posek HaDor lost consciousness for a brief period at home. It appears this year, the event will be held at 10 Chanan Street, the Ravs home.
Last Shabbos, after shachris, Rabbi Moshe Fried, a shaliach of the Belzer Rebbe Shlita visited the Rav, bringing a bottle of wine from the Rebbe, conveying the Rebbes sincerest wishes for a total recovery.
The tzibur is asked to continue davening for HaRav Yosef Sholom ben Chaya Musha.
