The commander of the Southern Command, Major General Yoav Galant, held a meeting with all of the officers of the command on Tuesday morning. They gathered to discuss the operational safety measures and discipline in the IDF. This is due to the operational accidents which have happened recently. During the meeting, the past incidents were assessed and the participating officers drew conclusions as to how further incidents could be better avoided. This was all done to raise the awareness of the officers to the present situation, and to clarify the guidelines and commands and to execute them.

Additionally, the gathering discussed the issue of general discipline, administration during times of peace, and the importance of information security. Moreover, emphasis was put on the relationship between adhering to laws of discipline and success in battle.

“Where there is no enemy, soldiers must not die,” said Major General Galant. “Only paying close attention to discipline alongside the commands and procedure, will lead to the desired result.” He explained further that, “discipline is an essential part of preparations before battle. Once it is part of routine before battle, it can serve us in battle as well.”
