As thousands of Brelover chassidim prepare to travel to Uman, the IDF is planning to step up enforcement against Chareidi draft-dodgers.
The enforcement will not only take place at Ben Gurion Airport but also at various crossing and in Chareidi areas.
Channel 12 News reported that in recent days, military police have been stationed in areas where a high concentration of Chareidi travelers is expected, including Elad, Beitar Illit, and the Jerusalem area.
The police officers will conduct proactive inspections to locate deserters trying to leave the country at air, land, and sea crossings.

For at least 2 bochurim getting arrested turned out to have solved their problem for good. This is because the purpose of putting them in jail is not so they serve a defined sentence as a punishment for having violated the law, instead its meant to force them to comply with the order that they serve based on the threat of being sentenced to even more time if they continue to refuse to serve. So 2 of the bochurim told the judge that for them serving in the IDF is ביהרג ועל יעבור, so the judge seeing that no matter how many times they lock them there is no chance of ever getting them to serve gave them both exemptions from needing to serve. So apparently getting arrested and facing a judge is currently actually the only way to get a permanent exemption.
Why do you call them draft dodgers? You are supposed to be Yeshiva World News, and this is a gezeiras shmad.
This is NOT Gzairas Shmad C”V. This is recruiting able bodied men to help out Eretz Yisroel in a time of need.
The State of Israel is not an halachic State. It is not interested in Yiddishkeit or Halacha. Therefore, it legislated like the goyim do without a care for Halacha or Daas Torah. Those who do not obey its laws requiring them to go to the army, just like the Bolsheviks did or the Americans did at the time of the Vietnam war, are draft dodgers. It is not an incorrect title, it is a mark of greatness. When after 120 years they ascend to shomayim and they are asked what they did for Yiddishkeit, they will be able to say with great pride, during the time of the zionist shmad, I was a Draft Dodger. Their reward will be everlasting.

observer, it may not be a halachik state – but it is a democratic state. Jews go to the Army and follow all other laws in such countries. You can still find a way to minimize risk both physically and spiritually – learn to be a sniper, a drone operator, an engineer, or a cyber geek.
And another thing about Israel as democracy – you can build a majority of voters and change how the country is run. You can work together with other religious and traditional Israelis. And non-religious Israelis live and see religious Jews for last 80 years – maybe make a better effort to show them how wonderful Yiddishkeit is. Possibly joining them in an army would be a good way to do that – and then all other problems will be resolved.
People forget that for 80 years it was legal and the state sanctioned the exemption for those committing to a life of Torah, all the Screamers calling for their head seems to have forgotten that the secular State thought learning was valuable for 80 years until the Attorney General woke up and decided it’s not. I only wish that the people screaming valued it for the 80 years that it was considered productive and important
The state of Israel doesn’t have an obligation to support the yeshivas financially, nor to give bnei hayeshivos discounts. Taxpayers have no obligations to support the kollelim, or the families of the kollel talmidim.
Not joining the army really has nothing to do with Israel.
I wonder how many yeshiva boys would avoid a draft in another country let’s say the United States, Canada on UK if those countries were attacked by some malicious enemy and really needed body to be in the army?
My guess is they will come up with another excuse me or the same excuse
