Defense Minister Israel Katz walked back remarks suggesting Israel would establish Nahal outposts in northern Gaza, issuing clarifications within hours after U.S. pressure.

He said Nahal units would be deployed only for security purposes, and stressed that Israel has no intention of establishing settlements in Gaza.
