The New York Times reported that the Pentagon has begun returning its forces to the evacuated US base in Qatar following Trump’s remarks at a press conference on Wednesday saying that “the killings in Iran” have ended.
Reuters reported that the security warning level at the US Al Udeid air base in Qatar was lowered on Thursday, following an increased alert level on Wednesday.
According to the report, which cited three sources familiar with the matter, US aircraft and personnel evacuated from the base are now returning.
Earlier on Thursday, an Iranian official told Al Jazeera on Thursday that Iran received a message from Trump that the US has canceled its plan to attack Iran.
The message was conveyed overnight, the Iranian source said.
A Saudi official claimed that the Gulf countries of Qatar, Oman and Saudi Arabia persuaded Trump not to attack Iran out of fear of “grave blowbacks in the region.”
Speaking to AFP, a senior Saudi official said that the Gulf states “led a long, frantic, diplomatic last-minute effort to convince President Trump to give Iran a chance to show good intention.”

How many Iranians demonstrated and gave their lives based on Trumps fake bravado???? How many thousands of young lives sacrificed for the false hope that Trump provided them with??? Trump is a coward who only backed Israel in Iran after they decimated Iranian forces and he then pressured Israel to stop before the job was done. Same in Venezuela where he attacked macho only to cozy up to an antisemitic socialist who is no better than Maduro. Now he feels all tough acting like a complete jerk to Greenland and Denmark. I never want to hear Frum MAGA whining about how Obama didn’t enforce red lines in Syria or back Iranian protesters.
Akuperma – valid point but if that is the case he shouldn’t have encouraged people to go to the streets with false promises of being locked and loaded to defend them.
Just remember: Donald Trump is the “reality TV president“.
What that means to me is that the bigger the plot twist and shock factor the more likely he has to do something.
I am going to guess that he has knowledge of some sort of coup ongoing.
Time will tell whether this is wishful thinking or not.
