PRESIDENT HERZOG: I share in the profound sorrow of the parents of the infants and in the pain of the families following the terrible tragedy at the daycare in Jerusalem. The loss of the lives of such young children is a deep fracture beyond words, and my heart is with all the parents and children who were harmed.

It is imperative to investigate, clarify, and understand what happened, to draw lessons, and to ensure full accountability. Oversight of early childhood care frameworks is a critical component of the safety and well-being of our children. All responsible authorities must ensure enforcement, safety, and full responsibility so that such a disaster never happens again. My condolences to the bereaved parents and families, and prayers for the recovery of the injured. May the memory of the infants be a blessing.
