Military Police officers arrived overnight Sunday at the home of an avreich in the city of Be’er Sheva and arrested him for draft dodging in front of his wife and children at 3:30 a.m.

Kikar H’Shabbat noted the IDF’s selective enforcement, saying that the avreich, Daniel Pinto, 28, is Sefardi, like the vast majority of the Bnei Torah who have been arrested and imprisoned.

Following his arrest, he was transferred to a military prison. He was brought before a military officer early Monday afternoon and sentenced to three days in prison.

Attorney Shlomo Haddad is representing the avreich on behalf of the Notnim Gav organization.

“The family is also receiving assistance and support from the organization,” a statement said.
