Appeals Court Blocks California Law Requiring ID For Immigration Agents

A federal appeals court has blocked a California law that required federal immigration agents to wear badges or other forms of identification.

The law, passed in 2025, was challenged by the Trump administration, which argued it endangered officers facing harassment, doxing and violence, and unlawfully allowed the state to regulate the federal government.

A three-judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals issued an injunction pending appeal on Wednesday, after previously granting a temporary administrative injunction blocking the law’s implementation.
