James Murdoch, the younger son of media mogul Rupert Murdoch, is set to acquire New York Magazine and Vox as part of a major media deal, according to an internal email reviewed by The Washington Post.
Through his holding company Lupa Systems, Murdoch will also acquire Vox’s podcast network. Vox Media CEO Jim Bankoff will remain CEO of the newly Murdoch-owned company.
Other Vox Media brands, including The Verge, Eater, PopSugar, SB Nation, and The Dodo, are not part of the transaction and will instead operate as a separate company. The deal is expected to close within four to six weeks.
