Supreme Court Allows Alabama to Use GOP-Backed Congressional Map for Elections

The Supreme Court allowed Alabama to use its Republican-backed congressional map for upcoming elections, reversing a lower-court ruling that found the map discriminated against Black voters.

• The map is expected to favor Republicans in six of Alabama’s seven congressional districts and includes one majority-Black district instead of two.

• The decision comes as states across the South continue redrawing congressional maps following recent Supreme Court rulings on voting rights.
