HaGaon HaRav Avraham Salim, the Rosh Yeshiva of the Maor HaTorah Yeshiva and a member of the Moetzet Chachmei HaTorah of Shas, delivered a scathing attack on Attorney General Gali Baharav Miara and the High Court on Sunday.

Speaking to his talmidim, HaRav Salim said: “There are many bnei yeshivos who are very angry at the Chareidi MKs and claim they’re not doing anything. That’s not true! They’re trying — I know! Both in the past and today, they are seeking every possible way to arrange the status of Lomdei Torah.”

“The Attorney General and the High Court justices are working together to battle against us in every possible way. The Attorney General is our generation’s Izevel, and the High Court is Yeruvam ben Nevat. They have joined forces with the left and are persecuting Lomdei Torah.”

The Rosh Yeshiva also addressed the protests and demonstrations taking place over the draft issue, ruling out the participation of bnei yeshivos. “The demonstrations and protests, what’s happening in the streets, don’t help; they’re harmful! And it completely pulls you away from learning.”

“It’s harmful for a person to become accustomed to violence; it harms his character. Everyone should do everything possible to heed the directives of the Rabbanim.”
