President Trump has formally nominated Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche to serve as attorney general on a permanent basis.

• Blanche, a former personal lawyer for Trump, currently serves as acting attorney general and will need a simple majority vote in the Senate to be confirmed.

• Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley said he supports Blanche’s nomination and intends to move quickly on the confirmation process.
