A Caracas Jewish center was hit in an anti-Semitic bomb attack on Thursday, resulting in light damage. The attack comes as the climate against the Jewish community in Venezuela is increasingly hostile. Community leaders� report the doors to the building were damaged, adding Baruch Hashem the attack occurred during the predawn hours and as such, no one was inside.
Jewish community leaders state without a doubt that the recent anti-Israel rhetoric heard from President Hugo Chavez was a major contributory factor to the attack. The Venezuelan Jewish community numbers 15,000.
