Saying Goodbye To Old Style Bus Tickets In Yerushalayim

On Tuesday, 4 Cheshvan (November 1), the old style ‘cartisiya’ bus tickets that were punched by bus drivers become obsolete. The same holds true for the monthly passes that have been used in past years, known as ‘chodshi chofshi’. All forms of payment for buses and trains in the capital will move to the new smart cards, the “Rav Kav”.

The smart card will be able to accommodate all payments, per ride, monthly, senior citizen discounts, discounts for the disabled and the lower fares for children.

Once one gets on a bus or train and pays, one has 90 minutes to ride on as many of buses or trains in the city free of charge. The smart card will document the payment time and one needn’t be concerned about the subsequent rides during that period.

For additional information, one may visit the Hebrew website.
