Poll Ahead of Jerusalem Mayoral Race

jerElections for mayors of cities around Israel will be held in less than three months. The battle in Yerushalayim promises to be an interesting one to put it mildly. A recent poll shows how the different chareidi candidates measure up in the public eye.

Leading the pack is Deputy Mayor Yossi Deutsch (Shlomei Emunim) who enjoys support from almost 80% of the city’s chareidi voters (including chassidish and litvish). He has earned the title of being the most active among the chareidi elected officials in the city.

Other chareidi candidates do not fare as well. Some examples are Yossi Lock (3.1%), Shlomo Rosenstein (2.6%), Avraham Feiner (1.2%) and Yaakov Halprin with 1.4%. Baring a sudden change, this places Deutsch at the top of the Agudas Yisrael list.

Regarding Degel Hatorah, the lineup is headed by Yitzchak Pindrus, followed by Yisrael Kellerman, and last place goes to Moshe Gora.

Interestingly, while Shas leader MK Aryeh Deri is working hard to oust Eli Simchayof, he leaders the party in the poll.
