PHOTOS: Skverer Rebbe Arrives in Flatbush

sk.jpg(PHOTO LINK AT END OF ARTICLE) The Skverer Rebbe Shlita arrived in Flatbush on Wednesday evening, where he will be spending the next week I”H. A Kabolas Ponim took place at Agudas Yisroel Bais Binyomin on Avenue L on Wednesday evening – where many Flatbush Rabbonim were waiting to welcome the Rebbe to Flatbush.

Reb Gedalia Weinberger, whom the Rebbe will be staying by during his stay in Flatbush, opened the Kabolas Ponim with warm words towards the Rebbe, followed by a Drasha by Rav Moshe Scheinerman of Khal Bnei HaYeshivos, Rav Yosef Frankel (Vyelipoler Rebbe), and the Skverer Rebbe.

On Thursday, the Rebbe visited Yeshiva Torah Vodaas and Yeshiva Veretzky. The Rebbe spoke at both Yeshivos, and gave each child a gift.

A massive tent has been erected at the public school yard on Bedford Avenue near Avenue L, where the Rebbe will be davening and conducting his Tischen on Shabbos. After Havdalah on Motzei Shabbos, thousands of people will walk the Rebbe home with singing and dancing.

  1. What a great kiddush hashem!

The entire Flatbush community should come out to show the proper respect and admiration for one of the greatest admorim in the olam hachasidus of today. Let’s show our achdus and respect for a great leader from the chasidishe velt, even if we are not chassidish. (And kol-shekain if you are.)

  2. A sincere question:
What is the reason that the rebbes (Viznitz, Skerer, Toldos Aharon, Nikolsburg, etc.)come to make shabbatonim in these areas? I was reading how certain rebbes come to join Flatbush, Boro Park, 5 towns, Lakewood, Balitmore, and.. What is the purpose? To teach chassidus, bring ruach, be a kiruv group or is the main reason, to raise MONEY. They sing, dance, give dvar torahs and then look for support for the mosdos.
There is nothing like this in Israel, you do not have visiting rebbes joining the Raanana kehilla, coming to Kiryat Sanz in Netanya or setting up tents in Ramot, Gilo and Har Nof. Can someone explain?

  3. To cityofgold

The quick and easy answer to your question is very much obviously $$$$$$.

That being said however, it is a great Kovod to any community to have a Godol come and visit and it allows people who otherwise would not have an opportunity to come into contact with these Rebbes to do so if they choose to.

What is quite interesting is that when you have Gedolay Oilum living right in your neighborhood nobody runs to see, meet or visit them. But when an out of town Rebbe comes with much pomp and advertising in all the heimishe papers everyone goes running (I geuss madison ave style advertising really works)

I wonder why we never see an ad in the heimishe papers saying “TZAHALI V’ROINY YOSHVEY FLATBUSH THAT _________GODOL SHLITA LIVES AMONG YOU”

  4. The Square Rebbe shlita would be a welcomed and honored guest in any Frum city in the world. Watch with wonder how their visit unfolds they are as prepared and as organized as you will ever see.
If this was a target for Flatbush money I suspect the Rebbe would have been in Flatbush many times before and this is the first time.
The truth is, so many of you have become cynical and nasty and cast a negative light on everything. Think about it.

For 30 years, thousands flock to New square every day looking for Hadrachah and Brochos from the Rebbe. The phone calls never cease.
How fortunate a neighborhood is when the Rebbe Shlita or any Rebbe for that matter comes to them and how sad that you mock what you cant understand.

It is a Z’chus when Tzadikim come- hence the famous announcement-
    Tzadik Bah Lair!

  5. I have no problem with the Skverrer, or any rebbe/godol coming anywhere. It’s just that the Skverrer chasidim have a tendancy of making so much noise/propoganda everywhere they go. The full page ad’s in every paper, the lights, the amount of people they bring along from skver. It all just seems very superficial, and a tremendous turn off for many people. I used to think i was the only one that felt this way, but have confirmed this with many others that feel the same.

  6. pushiterYid,but all in all,he is a very nice man,and gives good advise to all that come to see him. I still remember his father ztl back in the 60’s. they are very ernster people. and besides, flatbush could use some varmkeit, and chassidus once in a while.
