YWN political reporter spoke to Ezra Friedlander, CEO of the Friedlander Group, Sunday morning.
Ezra confirmed to our reporter that he will NOT be running in the race to fill the seat being left vacant by soon to be Deputy Comptroller Simcha Felder.
It now looks like the race will be between TEACH NYS Director & Counsel David Greenfield, Retired Civil Servant Joe Lazar, Community Board 14 Employee Jonathan Judge, and possibly retired Senator Seymour Lachman.
Ezra stressed that he believes, that once all the posturing is over and we have a winner, everyone will come together. He noted that there is a difference in elections and governing.
We hope he is right.

I’m appalled by Dov’s explicit manuevering in this race, which is obvious Kinah Sinah. It is the norm in Washington, Albany and City Hall, but it shouldn’t be the norm in a political race between Frum candidates.
Its clear and widely reported that Dov is out to DEFEAT one candidate, instead of ELECTING one. Dov played his cards open, that he wants EVERYBODY BUT GREENFIELD. Joe Lazar, according to several news reports, is only his second option. He actually tried to force him out, and to get Dear running, because he saw him as more electable, and stronger against Greenfield.
This is exactly why people hate politics, because politicians are using the public to settle private scores. As Jews, this is against all the Midos we learn and try to uphold on a personal level, and we shouldn’t aid and abate such a Nkamah Ntirah on the public arene.
Even worse, the score Dov want to settle with David, is because David fought for us. Hikind’s problem with Greenfield is that he fought to hard with his leader, Shelly Silver, to get assistance for Yeshiva parents, against the wishes of the liberal interests Silver is beholden to.
We should vote against Hikind dirty and un-Jewish campaign!
We shouldn’t help him settle scores that is against our intrests.
Who cares if friedlander runs or not he anyway can not win, he has no money and the mosdos & yeshivas are not with him
I am voting for Jonathan Judge anyway. He is the only Republican in the race, and I am sick of these Liberal democrates who are ruining our city
I bumped into Pinny Ringel today and asked him what’s the reason he is not running and who he is supporting, He said he is not getting involved in the race and didn’t want to give me a reason why.
Was he also threatened to stay out of the race?
What happened to our Democracy?
hoffman, if you’re “sick of these Liberal democrates who are ruining our city”, the natural thing to do would be to vote for the CONSERVATIVE in the race; in this case Greenfield, who got the backing of the conservative party. judge’s inspiration is Giuliani who is a social LIBERAL.
A smart move on Ezra’s part, as he wouldn’t have a chance anyway and he might’ve just ruined his political reputation which isn’t good for his business besides the fact that I believe that this post wouldn’t satisfy his quest and he will regret it. This isn’t good news for Greenfield as he would hope that the Boro Park vote would split and he’d cruise in with the Midwood/Bensonhurst vote.
Boro Park finally has the oppertunity to have a politician who is smart and eduacated. David Greenfield will win with flying colors and move stright up the latter. Hikend your days are over, you think your smart siding with Shelly Silver who is a past like yourself.I hope you enjoy Florida, where you belong. The only war you started was on yourself.
