why does the updated post sometimes not appear on the CR main page? not sure what you are asking

It’ll say last update 5 minutes ago by user ABC and the actual thread (like the comment-viewing part) says DEF updated 2 minutes ago. sometimes we approve things out of sequence. it is another way in which we like to confuse the users.

why does it take longer for a new thread to appear then for a new post? we do a cost benefit analysis of each new thead proposal. translated to english this means how much cost (grief to the moderators) will this thread bring vs. the benefit to the users. This takes time. Other times, the topic of the proposed thread has been touched upon in several other threads (some of which have been closed – see the first half of this answer) and is no longer going to provide anything new to the users. Additionally, some posts take longer even though the cost benefit analysis is usually quicker, because of the nature and/or length of the post. On the other hand, some posts are introduced to the delete key very quickley because the user decides to post the very same question in more than one thread!
ok -so why do you sometimes not post a thread and sometimes post it and say already discussed (w/ a link) and then close it because the topic that you wanted to start has been covered many times in many threads where you may have already commented. some of these threads have already been closed and others may still be open, if I were to show a link to these threads the same arguments would be brought up again with no benefit to the users and a high cost to the moderators.
mods: what’s the hardest part of being a mod? deleting silly comments and quesions from the users. that and being away from the family for 3 weeks at a time for the quarterly moderators meetings in our top-secret location in Eretz Yisroel.

no-i am asking why do you sometimes just delete a thread without even posting it, so the person who tried to start it has no clue where it was talked about previously…….i understand when you post the OP and then close it-while you specificity where to find other threads about the topic I have answered this question now twice. you know why your proposed thread was deleted. closed.
mod considering that first post (reply) to CNP, thats an awful lot of hands. 😉 on the other hand, it could be that we are highly skilled and talented moderators so that it only appears that way. btw, we are really good at editing and the 5 minute rule does not apply to us.
This thread is to ask appropriate questions to the moderators not for conversations with other users. users are requested use other appropriate threads for conversations. Addtionally, users are requested to not answer the questions that are posed to the highly skilled and well trained moderators for one of two reasons 1) they are not moderators and 2) they don’t know the reasons we moderate as we do, unless the question has already been answered in which case there is no need for the user to answer.

do you like being a moderator? this is probably the most asked question and probably one of the best question asked which by the way itf you read the questions that really isn’t saying much, but I digress. as I was saying that from a question popularity perspective based on th number of emails, posts etcetera, although many questions are asked and some with great frequency and some by the same poster over and over again, this question tops that all, not so much in originality but more in a genuine concern for our feelings and a genuine thirst for knowledge without any further elaboration, statement, testimonial or declaration I will answer your question once I go back to the beginning and re-read it because I have forgotten what is was. ok, let’s see. m m m mm m mmmm hmm, the short answer to this very good question is sometimes
now that you mention it, sorry. i was thinking of adding this but what i wanted to know was would you recommend it to someone else? only those that have a LOT of experience throwing their hands over that heads and screaming WHAT, how can I ever approve that, what was the user thinking sometimes you have to simulate pulling your hair out or banging your head against a wall.

are all mods equal or are some ranked higher than others?? do some have more privileges?? other than the editer, who has final say? there is clearly defined order of each moderator within the ranks and each knows their proper place within the ranks. The one with the final say is the highest ranked moderator and that information is classified
What so there are like Mod sergeants and Mod lieutenants (yup I DID use dictionary for that one!!!) and stuff? Weird! yes. and Mod enlistees, but they can’t Mod yet. they just get us more coffee before the cup runs out. btw, we rate and rank the users also.
And the editor is the King of the Class? final say in all matters (except when he isn’t looking we slip in a few gags about him)
So there’s like a mod internship or something before an individual gets to be mod? a summer internship program

mods- a while back I tried starting a topic called “bang your head here”. After reading your comments above I’m wondering why it wasn’t approved(?) because too many people would be breaking their monitors. besides, I clearly wrote banging there heads against a wall (and if I didn’t I will edit it to say that)

Now I’m really confused. How do I pronounce it? Looooo tenent. And I spell it lieutenant. You blokes are supposed to say it and spell it leftenant. But what would someone with a doctorate in language arts know?
