Another reason you should always assume that by default Haartez lies.

It’s funny, a relative sent me a note about pi day (with a picture of a pie, naturally). So I googled it and found this.

I’ll bet almost everyone here’s Elter-Zeida and Elter-Bubba (and all their ancestors) didn’t find each other, or get to know each other, by dating. I’d even bet that their parents played a large part in finding their shidduch. And the same regarding the shidduchim of their ancestors for thousands of years.

The officer who originally gave the card has his name and badge number on the card. So you just look at the name before you show it to the cop who pulled you over.

Yeah, but the sites that were hacked don’t usually say “Freilichen Purim” 15 seconds after you see the hacked message…

Its dangerous to drive. Why would anyone drive it, considering that? A car swerves a bit before noticing the bike, and it’s all over.

You rarely see normal people driving it. Being a “biker” has certain connotations (tatoos and all.)

That’s why you won’t know that the shaloch manos I gave you came from my coworker who lives in a different neighborhood.

Wolf: In the absence of proof of mamzeirus (perhaps required to be made to a beis din), my understanding is any Jew maintains a chazaka of being kosher.

Furthermore, while Moshiach will reveal many things when he comes (such-and-such person is a Jew despite always having been sure he was a Gentile, such-and-such is a Kohen despite thinking he was a Yisroel, etc.), one thing Moshiach will not reveal is people who were assumed to be kosher but were in fact technically mamzeirim.

How are you certain that every manafacturer of Shabbos Elevators pre-program their product to use the same amount of electricity regardless if the elevator is travelling empty (no passengers) or if it is carrying 5 passengers weighing over 1,000 pounds of extra weight?

The kesuba is valued at “200 zuz”. The Chazon Ish says that is 570 grams of silver, or slightly over a pound of silver. Ashkenazic kesubas also add an additional value to the kesuba of “200 zazukim of silver”. The Chazon Ish values this at 127 pounds of silver, while Rav Moshe values this at 100 pounds of silver.

The idea was a monetary value to support a single person for one year. That is the full extent of “alimony”. The amount specified in the kesuba.

They didn’t insist it be rescheduled. They readily accepted the answer that it will not be rescheduled. They violated nothing.

The lawsuit was by a few individual parents and it was against the wishes of the school and the team.

I sometimes wonder if doctors push unnecessary medical procedures for reasons of expediency rather than strictly medical necessity or fear of liability or financial considerations rather than medical considerations or simply because the doctor is unaware of less intrusive but equally effective options. I know others have this concern too, though I have no reason to suspect that any of these are a valid concern in the above discussion.

Anything that keeps us distant from them is a positive practice and falls in line with this Chazal.

The Karaites were the post-Temple period reincarnation of the Saduccees. I very much doubt the little remnants of them that still exists today has a kosher lineage.
