That could be true in theory, but remember even that info is only available to a site admin, not a regular reader. (The IP to city translation is not always accurate.) And its also easy for a user to hide behind an anonymous proxy that will mask even that much.
How can y’all think I’m the new mod 55, when y’all were sure I was already a mod even before 55 came on-board?
icot – all your points about the edit option are correct. indeed when the CR was brand new I believe it allowed it for 60 min., the default, but was reduced to the minumum 1 min. since new edits post unmoderated.
icot – in essence, the site owner can take a pretty good guess at the city of origin of the ip address, but no more. and if its a large city (i.e. brooklyn, lakewood, etc.), even that doesn’t say much. the sites regular readers (i.e. the non-owner or administrators) don’t even have that much.
moish – go to http://www.hostip.info and it’ll tell you your geograhical location based upon your ip.
icot – what someone says can be revealing, but the technical information (some of what you listed) thats made available to the website owner you visit doesn’t reveal all too much details.
moish – who is your internet provider/isp?
what we know with certainty now, is that cuzin brook is really old and quite desperate that her age not be revealed.

kapusta – I believe the CR software supports search function that needs to be enabled.
nossond – there is an edit option if your post was posted and you caught the error within one minute of posting time. The setting used to be set longer than 1 min. but was for some reason reduced.
