ananonmys: thats exactly the point. The folding is not to avoid wrinkling. You are folding it because you want the crease; this is true both with the tallis and the pants. And I am not personaly camparing anything. I am reporting to you and others who inquired what I have learned from my rebeim. At the same time I am sure their are rabanim who would paskin differently lehalacha. For those however who hold it is assur, the aformentioned is probobly why.

It is likely not a hachana problom. Hachana is in genaral only a problom if what you are doing cannot be done after Shabbos. However since if you are not going to fold the tallis it will get all creased and ruined it is not preparation for after shabbos it is simply causing the tallis to not get wrinkled which can only be done now.

The Issur falls under the melacha of mechabes – or laundering. Part of the laudering prosses in the time of chazal/the mishkan was to fold. After they would wash the clothing it would be place somewhere on a creace and it would stay like that for a long time until it molded the the clothing so to speak. Keep in mind theye did not have clithing like we have now it was more large peices of material which without these fold would not havee much shape. As such many rabanom forbid folding a clothing item where you want the crease. SO for example folding a polo shirt would not really be part of the laundering prosses because you ar just folding it for organazation not because you want the crease. Folding suit pants however or a tallis are ussually the examples given where folding on shabbos would be problomatic. Thus you can probobly just fold it slopely or not on the creace this may avoid the problom. Colsult your compatent local rabbi.

The Halacha is that a goy who keeps shabbos is chayiv misa a goy who learns torah is also chayav misa. This halacha is disscussed in the gemara is sanhedrid.

The reoson a goy who learns Torah is chaya misa can be found in a drasha. The passuk calls the torah a “Morasha” or inheritence(for lack of better word) the gemara tells us – al tikri morasha ela meorasa. The torah is a meorasa a women who is engaged but not yet married. She is set aside for her husband and only him. So to the Torah is set aside for the Jewish people alone.

Similarly Shabbos is also just for the Jewish people and not for the non Jews. There is a machlokes however what the nature of “Shavas” is. It either means regular shabbos like we have which is just for us or it may also mean take a day off from work. The reoson according to the latter sevara is that a jew’s purpose is to serve hashem and learn… a non Jew is supposed to work, contribute to society not to take off random days and so nothing – like every sunday 🙂 However I believe the common understanding is that the prohibition stems from the former reosons.

Additionaly the umos haolam have 7 mitzvos if they violate any of them there is a din of misa – that is the standered punishment. This is if they do not set up there own set of Dinim if they do maybe not. ALso not clear if dinim is on the 7 mitzvos or rile of law in genaral.

I cannot believe there is a Jew asking me to explain to him why building up the city of Jerusalem is a good thing! God promised us the land and told us to live there. Mitzva reshus, chiuv, zionism, tzionim, throw around all the words you want – its our yerusha. Unless you think it is assur to move there like satmar how can you say fullfiling the words of the Torah is bad.

    Poppa,

Kibbutz Galiut? Listen you are entitled to believe that we are not halachicaly aloud to enter Israel with a government because of the Gemmorah in Kesubos. But assuming you are not Satmar, the position you are coming from is very hard to defend. The people in Israel are not the Turks they are Jews. And yes you can darshen from a beracha in the sence that that beracha is what you ask god every day. Why would you ask god to build Jerusalem if it was not a good thing. I seriously can’t believe that someone pays attention to those words in Tfilla and could say its not a good thing.

There are clearly two distict things being asked for

    God should return to Jerusalem

    ?????????????? ??????? ??????????? ????????. ?????????? ????????? ????????? ???????????.

    And build it up

    ??????? ?????? ???????? ??????????? ???????? ?????. ???????? ????? ??????? ???????? ??????

As for the beggining of the geula – I made no mention. That is asked for in the Beracha of Et Tzemach David…..

Poppa, I guess you choose to omit the second half of the beracha.

And also Health, I gave you my source the beracha you say everyday. Where did you learn differently?

How can you say there is nothing to celebrate. You ask Hashem three times a day:

    “???????????????? ??????? ??????????? ????????. ?????????? ????????? ????????? ???????????. ??????? ?????? ???????? ??????????? ???????? ?????. ???????? ????? ??????? ???????? ???????:”

You ask Hashem everyday to build up Jerusalem, yet when he does it you say “What is there to celebrate?”

    You are kidding right?

That adds on to my thoughts of it having to do with Tzitzis and Shatnez but I can’t put my finger on it. I don’t see why your first answer is correct. The second answer is close. The Mishna Berura gives the example of a storm on Shabbos and you outside the Eiruv. You wearing it by clothing allows you to rescue it.

There are to things it is assur to be worried about:

    1. Things you can change – because all you have to do is fix them no worries.

    2. Things you can’t change – if you can’t change them – why get worked up about it?

That is correct. If talking to Arafat were to stop killing Jews then it would have been smart to talk to him. My point is however that you can’t talk to such people. Not because of morals just because they won’t list. History has tought us this time and time again. Hitler, Stalin, Arafat, they don’t listen. Look at any time in history it just doesn’t work. But anyhow that is irrelevent to this disscussion because “Neturei Karta” as they ironicly call themselves are not going to make peace between Am Yisrael and Achmadinajad(it sounds like a joke putting peace next to his name), they are going to join him in his fight against the “Zionists”. If you don’t believe me look at their website.

Well you are entitled to your opinion that is not the point. We must at least recognize that their behavior is completely unacceptable and even if you think you can get them to change from their ways you must first understand that they must know what they are doing is wrong. Additionally you cannot have a discussion with them about Israel until they understand hat meeting with terrorists is not okay.

I really just don’t understand how few of the people commenting on this conversation just don’t get what is wrong with this. I am probably one of the most Zionistic people I know but it just doesn’t matter and any Jew who thinks that Judaism and Zionism are not related incorrect – “Ki Mi Tzion Teitzei Torah”. You may not agree with the state but who cares. The matter of a Jewish state is a halachic issue(for the most part). Some will think we should establish it now(such as myself, although I do understand the other view) and others might think we need to wait. Eilu Veailu DIvrei Elokim Chaim. The point is Neturai Karta are Reshaim. THere is no reoson that we can’t disagree on a halachik issue but there are 613 mitzvot not 1. I agree with Satmar 612 of the Mittzvot I disagree with them on on e mitzva. okay, that’s fine – I can even have an intellectual debate about it. You cannot meet with Sonei Yisrael, or more specifically a man who is litteraly threatening every single one of our lives whenever visit Israel – namely the president of Iran, who has proxies such as Hizbulla and Hamas attacking Israel regularly. You cannot wish someone death because they think a “kdei achilas pras” is three minutes and you think it is four. you do what you think is right and he does what he thinks is right. Neturai Karta are Rodfim They are Reshaim. They want Much of klall yisrael to die. If we learned anything from WW2 its that you can not talk to evil. You cannot talk to hitler Y”SHM, you cannot talk to achmadinajad,Y”SHM or anyone who associates themselves with them. I urge you to look at their website and look what they say about the gedolei yisrael – its sickening! THEY ARE RESHAIM AND SHOULD BE KEPT IN CHEIRUM!!!
