There seems to be a lot of wasted time on the CR. What I mean by this comment is that it seems as though the intention of what was meant by what the CR was supposed to be is different or has definitely changed over time. Interesting matters, different Hashkofic views, important topics within the Jewish world, were the founding reasons to start such a thing, but instead it seems as if there is stam chatter. Discussions that have no meaning or propose, discussions that are not in any way the Yeshiva World News but just the news of individuals seeking entertainment. I am not here to CH”VSH bash those individuals but rather telling them to use email, this is not the place. Secondly do people realize how much time they invest in the CR. Are they not busy and have so much availability to be on it at all hours of the day? Maybe we should rethink why the CR was made.

Point or no point, would there be this much torah and as many gedolei torah in EY had it not become a jewish state? Would we be able to visit the kossel? There are many incredible things about this state from the jewish perspective. Can we say that the Israeli Government acts according to the exact way the torah wants it to be run, of course not, but at least we have the place “yerushalyim” where we can visit and get uplifted, to me that overrides the lack of a perfect halachakly run Government. We dont have to be Zionists to enjoy EY.

mommamia22 sounds like she knows what she is talking about and I would take her up, pretty much word for word.

Cinderella- Doing that was the right thing, in my opinion, because you have to assume she might be making a mistake. It is also appropriate to back away when you realize she isn’t listening, which is what it sounded like you did.

The way we can determine if something is kosher is through the “hachsher” that means that, that is now the determinite NOT the ingredients. Through this process it means companies that are not interested in putting a hachsher on because its expensive means its not kosher. Its a way of making a “Lo Plug” something commonly talked about about in gemara make one rule that includes certain situations even though they do not necessarily fit the exact criterion. Otherwise it will over time become too difficult to tell whats really kosher and what I think is.

Cinderella I could not have said it better than you. Lets be honest your clothes dont mean anything (obviously within reason) your external look is just that your external look, others should NOT jump to conclusions whatsoever. Why do we feel the need at all to catergorize someone in any regard, however we are humans this is what we do. Who said jeans are bad, who said a white shirt is good? Sometimes are daily activities will in a way force us to wear certain things. For example a worker in whatever field might want to wear jeanes, and someone learning in kollel will wear suit pants. We should first get to know them then make the judgment calls. In summary, certain actions are going to say a lot about you, but some do although they shouldnt, get to know the person its the smarter thing and if not who cares what he “is” to even bother classifying him, WORRY ABOUT YOURSELF, thats what my mother always told me. It would be foolish to say that jeanes show the same kavod as dressier pants, they dont, and sometimes we should fit that in, but lets do that with ourselves not others. Jeanes are very comfortable pants and really there is nothing wrong with them.

Health, for one there is no need to get all up tight this is just a formal debate. The story said that the girl was WALKING to school, which is located 300 meters away, she was by herself, and if not then I didnt hear the story right, i take back the statement about how “meaningless” it is, but not for one second would I dare to say that its at all worse, or at any level equal to the tremendous chillul hashem, no doubts there, thats what i was reffering to by ask a poseik. Are you a “buki” in hilchos mussar do you know when to give and when not to give, my assumtion, based on what you wrote by “screaming at her mother”, anyone who knows hows to give mussar EFFECTIVLY knows its not done through screaming. Lastly i am almost certain it was quite clear when i stated that its just a silly few, that the word silly is the huge double standard by these “charreidim” who spit yes and create a huge chillul hashem, stop from a moment and realize what every single person who hears this story thinks about Jews, one thing is for sure nothing positive. And no one said that the modern “justify” their actions because of how they are treated, what came first their actions or the spitting so I would venture to say its the chareidim justifying their actions by the dress of the “modern” if you will.

I didnt read all the posts but, Health, reffering to what you said about the lady with uncovered hair, thats not the issue at hand. The story was clearly about the little girl she got hurt for no reason there is no way to justify their actions period, ask a rav who is a poseik. Secondly the real question is do these “Chassidim” who are “so” machmir on kol haTorah Kulah not realize that Chillul Hashem is far greater than the insignificant, and yes the things they are bothered by are meaningless, halachos of tznius, they need someone to remind them of this. Lastly it is important to realize not all Charreidim are like this just the few silly individuals.
