Joseph i don’t think that’s a good excuse. You can’t compare what happens in Israel to anti semitism in a different land. No matter what in Israel you know that the land belongs to you as promised by Hashem. Noone can rightfully throw you out. And no matter the political views, there is an army that would fight to protect you whether your a tzioni or anti. But in lands that don’t belong to us it is much scarier and on a worse scale. There is noone to protect you in fact those who protect come after you. And there is nothing you can do. It’s actually scary how real this is right now. We are seeing a global rise in anti semitism. Global. Usually there was always a land to escape to whenever we were thrown out. But America is the last land. So what now?

PS. Anti semitism is alive and well in Australia as much as anywhere else.

Would anyone consider any of these occurrences in the world and even here in the U.S warning signs? The Belgian parade caricatures, free and encouraged anti Jewish speech, the rise of Omar? Nancy Pelosi defending her as saying her comments werent anti semitic? Even a very famous (Jewish) talk show host warned of signs of a western holocaust condition CH”V. People are recognizing that what we are seeing is reminiscent of 1930’s Germany. Yes there was always anti semitism, but it is rising and is becoming more open and accepted. This is whats frightening and in our days trends tend to catch on fast.

Omar will not be stopped, and the few who are speaking out are doing it half heartedly as if they are afraid! Types such as her should be taken down as soon as possible before they get a chance to rise up and spread wildfire. She knows that noone will stand up to her, and are actually defending her! This is outrageous. We are seeing swastikas all over our city. Anti semitism everywhere. Is this the writing on the wall?
Before all you smarties jump up to accuse me of scaring everyone to move to Israel, Im not saying thats the solution. But what do we do while we still can? I think we are seeing warning signs. These things start slow and are easy to ignore while they are small occurrences, but thats always how they started. We cant let this get out of control.

Crazy how? I wrote a piece responding to gadol and froggie and it was never published. So I’m the crazy one. Not crazy, just frustrating when someone writes something and it simply gets deleted. Thanks for the kind words though. Shows a lot about your middos.

    speaking of middos, it’s possible the mod who deleted didn’t like your own unkind words. {shrugs}

Stop shadchanim, parents, and friends from telling a girl that money is the most important thing. It’s sad that it’s such a factor. I mean why do so many woman choose money over a good heart? If a guy is trying his best and works hard and has such a good heart, why must he be alone simply because he doesn’t have a career? Aside for the fact that naturally women are attracted to money and love being spoiled( in general yes), the external influences such as those who are close to her corrupt her mind. What will happen when you have kids they say. What will be when your pregnant? Do you want to live on the street? Oh please you didn’t even get married and already raising things that aren’t even in anyone’s control.

I get it women who want money will always want that and will probably find it if they are pretty enough. But something about today’s mindset is very problematic. Yes we need money to survive, but if your doing your best and are a good guy, what else is left? Did we forget what emunah is? Is anything guaranteed for the better or worse? Can someone with a career not lose it? Can someone with a simple job not advance? Don’t woman also work nowadays? Why does it have to be that if they work they will only marry a man who makes either as much or more? Is it a competition? This is what’s wrong today the mindset.

Tas if you paid 4500 for something that lasted a year you got a bad deal. Really bad. Unless it was a Corvette and hopefully you enjoyed it. BTW buying used leases are usually the worst since most lessees don’t take care of the car. No oil changes no maintenance, and drive it like theres no tomorrow. So not great.

Best is to buy only from a private seller usually they are upgrading or the like. Dealers are charging you much more than the car is worth and will totally lie about the car issues just to make that profit.

    Lucy-“Writer whats your point?
A lady who isnt very pretty will assume that her husband doesnt have good taste becasue he chose to marry her?”

No quite the contrary. I was responding to someone who wrote “Maybe u got bad taste and she knows it. So ur compliment is really an insult”

So I’m saying what’s the difference If she thinks the guy has bad taste in any matter? If her husband compliments her cooking, and loves her why would she take it as an insult even if she thinks her husband has bad taste? True maybe someone who has good taste will dislike her cooking(assuming it isn’t very good), but she married her husband and his opinion should mean the world to her. And other way around as well. His wife is the only woman who should matter to him.

So why be insulted by a genuine compliment?

According to the Torah do they actually feel anything? Especially when ripped out of their roots? Trees being plowed? Does anyone know.

Gadol if you read my posts you’ll see there is really no way to avoid it. Simply owning a smartphone or having a PC connected to the internet leaves you not only at risk of being hacked, but rather having every single thing you do throughout the day recorded and stored. Your location, interactions, data, pretty much every move you make. Apps/companies are constantly taking pictures of you, video, and also recording audio even when you aren’t using your phone. And If you think im making it up, next time you download an app look at the permissions it requires and it clearly says can record video, take pictures and record audio at any given moment. And trust me they keep their word.

They did this with Obama and made a video of him saying whatever they want. You can check it on YouTube. Just imagine the potential disasters that can create.

Neville, I don’t see an outrage not by yidden, not by political figures and not by anyone else. If this was done against blacks and the N word was painted all over the city there would have been riots by now. There would have been an uproar by politicians how this cannot be tolerated. Al Sharpron would have been organizing road blocks. I’m not saying we should do that, but merely reporting it on media as a by the way kind of thing just doesn’t cut it.

You tell me to give a suggestion. I don’t know exactly what should be done other than at least having community leaders speak out on this to show that it’s not a hefker situation. What I do know is that we as Yidden have to recognize what is happening, and no, most live too comfortably to be able to admit the reality. That’s my main point. Not saying to flock to Israel but even the USA can prove to be a danger.

Little Froggie, you’re so funny. You are so clever and much smarter than everyone. Its far from myth that apps, facebook and everything google collect private data and info on everyone they even “warn” you when requiring permissions which have nothing to do with the app functionality. Just do a quick google search you might learn a thing or two.

    Yserbius12- ”

I’m bothered by it. But I recognize that there’s little I can do. So I try my best. Most of my browsing is on incognito mode. I don’t use my real name on any social media. I buy from a variety of online and brick+mortar retailers. I never use store credit cards.
Basically, as long as you’re happy living like it’s 1998, you have nothing to worry about.”

Ya so heres the thing my friend. Incognito mode and the like actually attracts more attention than using the regular browsing mode. Its sure to put you on a surveillance list. And even all these private browsing methods and settings such as ” do not send feedback” usually are useless as google and facebook have been caught still collecting private info no matter what.

You dont use your real name on social media? Great going except for the fact that im sure you have photos, friends, and conversations where people either tag you in a photo using your real name, or much more than your name gets collected in various chats, posts, pictures, videos, voice messages and so on. Just because you forget about the conversation the moment its over, doesnt mean these data mining companies do. They see everything, they know everything, and they keep everything. You would certainly be shocked if you saw even 2 days worth of your history and how revealing each bit of information is about you.

If you buy things from stores im hoping your using cash because otherwise I dont see a difference than buying online. Aside for companies selling your info and habits, they use internet as well. So even if they did want to guard your info they cant since they get hacked just as Chase did several years ago with many accounts private info compromised.

Nothing to worry about if you live like in 1998? As long as you have a smartphone or computer your whole life is being recorded, data wise, audio, video, contacts, family, passwords, habits, lifestlye, work,LOCATION, private conversations etc. the list goes on and on and gets more chilling. Even if you didnt own any of these if you are ever around them theres no escape. It gets pretty obvious when every other day google releases some other product with an embedded camera or microphone which they “forgot” to mention is included in the product.

Long ago people would criticize someone as being a tin foiled hat lunatic, but unfortuantely it is reality. You can check reputable tech sites,CNET etc. Just look at the app permissions which are so irrelevant to the app functionality. The thing is that even if you abandon all these gadgets, the damage is done, its too late. And since its part of our daily use, companies are getting smarter and smarter collecting data with new methods of spying and it all gets saved forever. Im surprised there isnt more uproar about our privacy but people either know they cant do anything or just dont care. A great excuse is “well I dont do anything to make me worried”. Oh really? Do you close the door when you enter the bathroom? Why? You are doing nothing wrong. Well the point is that people want and NEED privacy and anything can be used against you and Im sure people would be shocked how apps and companies and government are recording the most private of conversations in the safety of their own homes. Ever used your phone in the bathroom? Well closing the door wont keep them out anymore. You are never alone. And it only gets worse.

HATE IN BROOKLYN: Swastikas Found On Brighton Beach Playground

swastika graffiti found in a Brighton Beach park. I would just like to know how long we ignore these occurrences. I mean will people open their eyes? This is occuring all over the world, U.S., and lately in NY in particular Brooklyn. Social media and politicians are one thing. But its happening right under your nose. Joseph-Crown Heights has always been terrorized by the black neighbors I mean thats pretty much inevitable since the surrounding neighborhoods are anything but Jewish. Im talking about shuls being targeted, windows being shattered, and swastikas along with anti Jewish slogans appearing all over the city and in public parks. There have been many cases over the past year.
Hopefully this will stop soon, but again these things always start out slow and seem to be under control so its very easy to ignore them as we’ve always done in the past. Best to at least be alert and try to do something to stop them before they get out of control. Where are the Jewish political figures?

im surprised mods allowed the N word. But youre forgetting something. Mississippi and the southern states in general were always know to be extremely racist and anti semitic. Youre also forgetting that there are pretty much no Jews living in those areas. You are also forgetting that these incidents are happening in NYC. Were there also signs of NO DOGS NO JEWS in storefronts on the lower east side back in the day? I know Yidden were threatened to get fired for not working on Shabbos but that rule applied to everyone.

Joseph-“The biggest self-caused antisemitism (meaning limiting this comment to discussing the antisemitism triggered by Jewish actions) is when Jews try to integrate into non-Jewish society or are otherwise embarrassed to clearly and openly display their Jewishness or aspects thereof.”

I absolutely agree. And you are right we shouldnt have any interest in joining private clubs or organizations which we have nothing to do with. Not sure why so many examples of that are being brought up. Honestly even College/University is a questionable place for a Yid but what other way to get a degree in todays money draining world.

No Neville my intention wasn’t to make everyone vacate but good guess your so clever. The point is that throughout history the most powerful countries or nations of the time usually had the largest number of Jews living there and always turned on them. Egypt, Persian empire, Rome, Spain, Germany, and so on.

Besides most of Europe is known to have been very racist and very anti semitic nothing had changed. But its surprising when it happens in the land of the free.

Daas- I didn’t say Trump hates Jews although I don’t believe he admires us so much. For example he wasn’t embarrassed to stereotype the Republican Jewish coalition and say to their face that he knows they won’t vote for him cause he doesn’t need their money which they like to use in order to control their politicians. He also knew exactly who he was catering to with the America First slogan and was extremely slow to condemn David Duke and the KKK followers since “he never heard of this fine people”.

It’s also funny how during his political campaign there was a flyer he sent out which “accidentally” featured S.S soldiers instead of U.S soldiers. Many funny coincidences go on and on. But again I’m not saying the surge of anti semitism is on Trump’s orders, but I do think many Yidden are quick to put their full faith in someone who shows a temporary friendly face.

Rebetzin what gives you such a feeling that we are protected. You do know that lehavdil no one could ever imagine such things happen in Germany right? There was a great sense of protection.

And ctlawyer and rebetzin, you are giving specific examples of exclusive facilities that were strict on who they let join which also applied to blacks and other foreigners who weren’t white I’m sure. But it’s more personal when you see these slogans in local parks and college campuses. You don’t even see anything like that today against blacks or other “minorities” who have had an ugly past in America as well. There would have been an uproar. All I’m saying is there is definitely a surge in the world including in the US.

Well technically you can choose to block your content from appearing on google searches so ya there is some control over it.

And Neville what is the point of archiving so many senseless debates for all to read that are both a Chilul Hashem and promote Sinas Chinam by Yidden? And im sure there are many things you and many others contributed that youd be surprised you wrote at the time since maybe you dont feel the same way anymore and would be glad to see it removed.

I mean its nice to archive threads but if they are doing harm then in my opinion it is not a good thing. Aside for the fact that most of those threads are so old and will never be opened up again by anyone in the coffee room, but if a random person searches for something on google they will appear and it opens up a can of worms with opinions and thoughts from past years and past thoughts that arent so relevant except for fueling hatred.

    @1 and @ Joseph
Yes there were times of anti semitism especially by the Holocaust where fdr sent a ship full of Jews back to the German slaughterhouses. And also there was Charles Lindbergh with the famous anti semitic “America first” slogan which Trump proudly adopted and doubled down on even when asked by Jewish organizations repeatedly not to use it. He clearly knew what it stood for which at the time meant to “worry” for America and not get involved for the Jews being murdered in Europe.

Here is a quote from an article- Lindbergh poured particular ire on the Jews. “Jewish groups in this country,” he told the crowd, should realize that in the event of war “they will be among the first to feel its consequences.” Individual Jews, he concluded, presented a unique danger to the United States because of their “large ownership and influence in our motion pictures, our press, our radio and our Government.”

Coincidence Trump rhetoric? And is it also heartwarming to know that Trump reportedly kept a book of the German demons speeches by his bedside to draw influence from?

The point is ya there were cases of hate speech in America by the time of the Holocaust, which I’m not sure is so calming to parallel that with our times. But again this is 2019 where hatred towards groups is not tolerated which makes this worse. But apparently it’s ok if it’s geared towards the weak defenseless Jews. And now you see individuals taking things into their own hands and not just certain political figures riling up crowds and speaking as they wish even though thats something that’s happening as well.
I’m not too sure that there was ever such a volume and frequency of anti semitic attacks in the USA which is why they are considered to be at an all time high.
And with corrupt media brainwashing the young, social media, and such communication these things are spreading like wildfire.

Mod 29- well it’s natural for people to be impulsive during a discussion/debate or argument especially on sensitive topics. True people should be careful but people tend to forget that all they say gets saved. As I’ve mentioned before when someone has a discussion they don’t mean for it all to be recorded for review later especially if they won’t mean it afterwards or it’s taken out of context. The reason I geared it towards mods is because these appear on Google searches which might be in your control.

And gadolhadorah if it’s too long for you to read then don’t. Mods have allowed much longer pieces when they make sense.

@mods-to be perfectly honest i think there are many threads that should be taken down. Especially since they appear on google searches and especially the ones which are controversial topics. My ideology is like this, when people argue sometimes they say things for that moment. Most people arent wanting to have their comments archived for others to read later especially since opinions might change or as Ive stated before it was only meant for that moment. This is the problem also nowadays since people have conversations and arguments via text, whatsapp and may say things that dont hold for later on. Its like when people have a discussion would they want it to always be recorded and for others to listen and review? Obviously not thats why they dont treat what they say as if they are writing an essay and that it will be set in stone, they would calculate every word. Nowadays our conversations are literally set in stone or infinite stones since they can be circulated everywhere and anywhere in a split second and pretty much can never be taken back. Once its out there its out of anyones control. If you guys dont take down senseless threads and arguments at least block them from google searches. Ive seen ywn topics come up on google searches which are a huge chilul Hashem and also sinas chinam between Yidden. At least keep them hidden if not removed completely with a fresh start. Whats the use of collecting and keeping them forever? Just taking up space on your servers. The velt knows more about us nowadays than we share amongst ourselves. Anyone can literally know all thoughts and actions amongst Yidden which arent meant to be out in the open and are there forever. If you were in the dark about your fellow Yidden, open up a search. You’ll know everything.

It’s funny how we rely on the lowest of yeridas hadoros meaning present times and feel somehow we have perfected things more than when they actually were perfect. The fact that it seems we are more stringent on things is mostly because of issues we ran into regarding technology interfering with Shabbos and etc..and constantly have to creatively maneuver around these issues and make it work. So in a way maybe it requires more effort but are we better than the earlier generations? Knives or the like I mean you can’t really compare present day tech with those days. Besides we only “perfected” things based on original methods and capitalized on them. It’s interesting though if everything was good enough back then why did we have to “fix” things? We also caused a lot of problems for ourselves. What happened to אל תהי צדיק יותר מדי? Exactly for that reason. When there’s so much siyag if you fail on the siyag you feel you actually transgressed the original commandment and it just goes downhill from there. 400 conflicting opinions for each tzivuy rather than 1 halacha lemoshe misinai. And we have it better?

I mean many idol worshipping “religions” have false gods depicted as animals or even are animals. Secondly cant these things be a distraction when they are painted on a wall or embroidered on to a covering when you cant miss them? Its just odd since we know not to even hang up pictures of people/animals in a shul for these reasons.
