This kind and loving man will be missed by all of those who knew him. He was more than a typical camp director knowing every detail about every boy in the camp making sure that each camper and staf member made the most of the camp experience both in Ruchniyos & Gashmiyos.

Rabbi Eli Monk was a kind and caring man. I remember meeting Eli when I was just 6. He really took an interest in me, like a father figure. I am blessed and fortunate to have known him and his family and spent time at his wonderful camp. I had the best ten summers of my life in Camp Munk. It was not a camp in was a home a family.

    He will be greatly missed.
Please send my condolences to his family and especially his son Ezzy.

  3. We lost a lot of REAL Gedolim this year! It is hard to let Eli go. Nechama to the Rebetzin and Mishpocha. Eli gave me my first break by letting me come to the camp. Reb Dovid pleaded my case and Eli went for it. No place was sweeter for me then “Eli’s Minyan”, my tefilos were focused. We are all at a tremendous loss. His passing rocks my world.

was he a relation of the Rav Elie Munk who started the Munk’s Shul in London. That Rav Munk was the father of Lady Jacobowitz a”h of London.

  6. His father Rabbi Michael Munk founded the camp and his father’s brother was Rabbi Eli Munk of London. His father’s cousin was Rabbi Elie Munk of Paris, the father-in-law of Chief Rabbi Jacobowitz. Reb Eli’s grandfather was Rabbi Ezra Munk, rabbi of Adass Yisroel in Berlin, a son of Rav Eli Munk dayan in Altona

  7. Still can’t grasp his passing. So many memories….
Without a doubt old time Munkies know that R’ “Josh” Silvermitz is standing in Shomiyim singing “I can see R’ Eli, with a big smile on his face”.
Some of my greatest life experiences and warm memories are of my time in Camp Munk.
As said by the levaya in E’Y- we lost a Gadol in Avodah. One who shaped thousands of families, and taught us what a real Tisha B’av was supposed to mean.
