Chaim Deutsch Easily Wins Reelection In Flatbush


Councilmember Chaim Deutsch (D-48) easily beat Republican challenger Steve Saperstein as he soared to victory on Tuesday night. By Tuesday night, Saperstein proved to be no match for Deutsch, who was up by around 4,000 votes with 99 percent of scanners recorded.

District 48 coveres parts of Brighton Beach, Manhattan Beach, Sheepshead Bay, Homecrest, Trump Village, Luna Park, Brightwater Towers & Midwood.

Deutsch had the unanimous support of the Jewish community as well as endorsements by former NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams; former Councilmembers Michael Nelson and Lew Fidler; Councilmember Mark Treyger; Assemblymembers Dov Hikind, Diane Savino, Bill Colton, Helene Weinstein, and Steven Cymbrowtiz; and former Assemblymember Phil Goldfeder.

He also received a last minute endorsement by Councilman David Greenfield on Tuesday who tweeted: “For all my friends who live on the other side of Flatbush – remember @ChaimDeutsch is running for re-election. Please vote for him today!”

Deutsch is also endorsed by the PBA, DEA, SBA, LBA, CEA; the Uniformed Firefighter’s Association, the Uniformed Sanitationmen’s Association, the Hotel Trades Council; NYC Central Labor Council; ATU Local 1181; Local 94 IUOE, and Local 14 IUOE.
